What the architecture actually does
According to PDF Solutions' announcement, Exensio Aurora is engineered for semiconductor manufacturing data the company describes as both extremely long and extremely wide. The platform lets users build custom analysis types without writing code, orchestrate actions across business applications and the supply chain, and deploy what the firm calls "agentic AI" across manufacturing operations. The implied pitch: conventional tools analyze less than 5% of available industry data, and Aurora is built to close the rest of that gap.
PDF began investing in the new architecture over a year ago at customer request, leveraging the company's 35-year industry footprint. CEO John Kibarian framed the shift around 3D architecture, advanced packaging, and heterogeneous integration dissolving the front-end and back-end boundary. Said Akar, VP of Enterprise Development, called AI the "foundational guiding principle" for the design.
Why the no-code angle is the differentiator
For teams evaluating no-code and workflow automation tools, the headline feature is the workflow-based platform with no-code creation of custom analysis types. Most no-code platforms stop at dashboards and form builders; Aurora pushes into domain-specific analytics layered with an industry-grounded semantic model. That combination — domain depth plus no-code surface — is the actual value proposition, if it holds up under real workloads.
The open question is whether the no-code abstraction exposes enough of the underlying data model for serious engineering teams, or whether it conceals too much. General-purpose BI systems and cloud data platforms, the company's stated benchmark, often lack the ability to integrate with manufacturing equipment and orchestrate across business applications — both of which Aurora claims to handle natively.
The questions to ask before signing
Practical procurement checks: Can the natural-language querying handle complex domain-specific queries, or does it cap at surface-level KPIs? What does the total cost of ownership look like against a general-purpose cloud data platform with custom connectors? Does the workflow layer integrate cleanly with existing ERP, MES, and supply-chain systems, or does it become another silo?
First public demonstrations are scheduled for PDF Solutions CONNECT 2026 in San Francisco on October 15–16. Until then, the platform remains a paper promise, and the standard enterprise procurement caution applies.
